Even though Costa Rica is in a tropical climate sometimes it's not suitable for bikini contests. Even though the rain forest is like the one from Tarzan the jungle man, it doesn't mean they can still dress that way.

Well even though it doesn't mean you don't have to wear a loincloth the clothing is still very tropical. The clothing worn here in Costa Rica today is no different to the clothes that any other Central American country's people wear. There are two types of clothing that is worn in Costa Rica. There is your local clothing then your traditional clothing that you would wear on special occasions.

The men still wear the simple clothes just like every other Costa Rican person that there today. Women never wear their traditional clothes outside the special occasions. Their traditional clothes consist of a dress with ribbons and bright colors. The dresses have no sleeves, but instead ruffles near the shoulders that rest on the neck when they dance. When they are wearing this clothing they usually have a traditional flower behind the ear.

The other type of clothing that they where is the regular clothing that they wear on a regular basis. Even though it is probably hot and you like to wear shorts they are not well accepted in what they wear today. Locals only wear shorts to the beach so they may laugh at you sometime or another.

The clothes that you where are going to determine how you meet people down there as well. Most people wear long sleeve shirts and long pants during the day. Men are seen in shorts but they usually don't wear them unless they are going to the beach for a swim. The last thing that you will need to wear is a good pair of shoes when walking in Costa Rica. Tennis shoes or any type of walking shoes will do just fine in Costa Rica. Maybe if you are going to be hiking boots may be the shoes you want to wear that day. The dresses are worn by older women and only at special times during the years. You can find all the clothes you need in Costa Rica for a really cheap price so just go look before you decide to wear your shorts everywhere.

If you look closely at the clothing they wear it is more European than American. Anyways you can wear anything you want really from shorts at the beach to jeans in public just be sure to wear whatever is comfortable and fits well. Remember you can buy other clothes anywhere in Costa Rica so just look around, before you decide to wear some lame jeans.
