When you start researching for phermones, one of the more popular searches is "Do Phermones work?." Despite the disbelief of many as that this doesn't work, there have been many experiments done in the past 20 years to test its effectiveness. Here are some of them:

Unlike animals, human beings do not have the ability to smell or detect phermones at a conscious level. Some studies indicate, however, that we still can sense it at a subconscious level thus its ability influence our sexual urges and communication.

Some researches found that some cell organs in our nose reacts to phermones. These cells in the nose have the sole purpose of detecting them. They are located near the entrance of the nose at the bone in between and look like nerve cells. This was tested when the scientists placed devices in test subject's noses measuring cellular activity and found out that that particular group of cells reacted when there were phermones in the air. These "special detecting nose cells", upon detecting the the chemicals, transmit electrical impulses to the hypothalamus triggering sexual attraction.

It was also found these cells have more sensitivity and react more quickly to phermones in female test subjects versus men test subjects. It was speculated that this is due to the fact, that women tend to have a more defined sense of smell.

Another test was done to see if it really influence sexual attraction and behavior - a control group of females were shown pictures of men and to rate how attractive they find them. These pictures were randomly sprayed with phermones - some had and some didn't. Results showed, that women found the pictures that were sprayed with the chemical more attractive than those that didn't have any. It was concluded that phermones might be the reason why people can decide right away whether they like or dislike somebody.

More experiments were done to test this further. In a dentist's waiting room, one chair was sprayed with phermones, the others were left as is. As the day passed, it was found that twice the amount of woman sat on the chair sprayed with the the chemical.

A similar experiment was done with a row of three phone booths. As the group of researched tallied the number of women going to the phone booths, it was found that they were more likely to go to the one sprayed with phermones than the ones without.

One of my favorite experiments was done in a nationally televised show in the United Kingdom. The test subjects were identical twins and one of them was doused with phermones. It was found that women were more attracted to the twin sprayed with phermone than the one who had just regular cologne.
