I know my mom and dad recollect when they got their original television back when they were young. These can be pretty pricy, but if you're the family holiday record keeper like I am, getting one of these is a outstanding investment. Think about all the old movies that you made with a VHS recorder so long ago. They were grainy and you wish you'd been able to record at a better quality. To play the HD DVDs you make recordings on, though, you'll have to have an high definition DVD player. The DVD player you have now will not likely play high definition DVDs (although you may have already bought one, so check your DVD player's manual). Some game consoles support playing HD DVDs, but Playstation 3 does not. The Playstation 3 will play the HD format's rival format, Blu-Ray, but is not compatible with HD.
