My daughter was eight years old and had an ongoing problem with keeping her room tidy. I would do the right thing and model the correct way to keep her room tidy and she would stand and stare at me while I did the tidying. That just didn't work at all.

Until one day I entered her room while she was at school and there were only two things left on the floor (we're talking a major miracle here). I picked up the two things pretending she hadn't left them, on the floor at all. Her room looked kind of amazing (and I was stretching the imagination just a little).
